Last week, the global healthcare community gathered in Hong Kong for the prestigious 6th Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) 2026. Jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the summit operated under the theme "Fuelling Healthcare Breakthroughs".

As a leader in medical innovation, CVVT was proud to play a role in this flagship event, which drew 3,000 participants from 43 countries to explore the future of the global healthcare ecosystem.

During his welcome remarks, Prof Frederick Ma, Chairman of the HKTDC, emphasised Hong Kong's unique position as a "superconnector" and "super value-adder". He noted that there is "nowhere better than Hong Kong" for exploring global health collaboration, particularly as the agenda aligns with the healthcare priorities of China’s new 15th Five-Year Plan.

A Hub of Innovation

The Centre for Virology, Vaccinology and Therapeutics (CVVT) main booth served as a focal point for attendees at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Our presence highlighted the vital support from the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) of the HKSAR Government that fuels our operations.

Our showcase focused on:

  • Demonstrating our dedication to bridging the gap between lab innovation and patient care through translational R&D.

  • Innovation Strength: Our translational research is robustly supported by world-class basic research from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and driven forward by a diverse range of impactful projects led by our distinguished Principal Investigators (PIs)

  • Commercial Service Offerings: We also actively promoted CVVT’s robust, end-to-end drug discovery platform. Attendees and potential partners explored our specialised service offerings - spanning drug-target discovery, high-resolution NMR, LC-MS omics studies, and virtual drug screening.

Spotlight on Our Spinoffs

Innovation at CVVT extends beyond our primary offerings. This year, we were delighted to showcase two dedicated booths for our rapidly growing spinoff companies, each addressing critical gaps in the modern medical landscape:

Orimmune Biotech Limited

Focusing on the next frontier of immunotherapy, Orimmune presented its Anti-Δ42PD1 Antibody Platform. This novel platform is specifically designed to tackle tumours resistant to current PD-1 inhibitors, offering superior outcomes for liver cancer (HCC).

BiomOrgan Limited

Specialising in advanced bio-solutions, BiomOrgan showcased high-fidelity respiratory and tumour organoid technology. They highlighted their newly-launched oncology service, PDOHub HK, Asia’s first integrated organoid-based precision medicine centre.

Distinguished Guests Visit BiomOrgan

A highlight of the summit was the BiomOrgan booth, which had the honour of welcoming a high-level delegation. We were privileged to host Professor Frederick Ma Si-hang GBS JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) [Left], and Professor Lo Chung-mau, Secretary of Health of the Government of Hong Kong [Middle].

During their visit, BiomOrgan's COO provided an in-depth briefing on BiomOrgan's recent milestones, especially the launch of PDOHub HK, and its role in bolstering Hong Kong's position as a premier global hub for health innovation. The engagement focused on how their proprietary tumour organoid platform will be leveraged to provide the local population with personalised and targeted solutions for cancer patients.

Looking Ahead

Participation in the ASGH 2026 has provided CVVT and our spin-offs with valuable insights and new potential partnerships. With over 400 deal-making meetings arranged during the event, the summit provided the perfect platform for CVVT to align with industry experts and collaborators. We remain committed to translating these discussions into tangible health solutions that drive the next frontier of innovation across Asia and beyond.
